SECRETS TO SUCCESSFUL SUMMER GRILLING

For most Americans the summer season kicks off with Memorial Day as they fire up the grill to enjoy backyard cook-outs and the grilling continues well beyond Labor Day, but one thing that many home chefs are just beginning to realize is that a little bit of mustard adds a lot of flavor to many every day foods. While French's mustard remains the condiment of choice for hot dogs and hamburgers, it can really kick-up the flavor in a variety of family favorites like potato salad, baked beans, macaroni and cheese and more. In addition, with a variety of mustard flavors to choose from like French's Classic Yellow, Spicy Brown, Honey, Honey Dijon, Dijon with Chardonnay, and Horseradish, the options are endless.

A simple, classic BBQ technique that yields a moist, flavorful chicken with a subtle flavor of mustard

SUPER JUICY MUSTARD RUBBED CHICKEN
Prep Time: 0 mins
Cook Time: 20 mins

3 lbs fryer chicken, cut into 8 pcs
½ cup FRENCH'S® Classic Yellow® Mustard
3 tsp McCormick® Grill Mates® Montreal Spice 1. PREHEAT grill to medium heat
2. PLACE chicken pieces on large plate and coat both sides with FRENCH'S® Classic Yellow® Mustard. Sprinkle Montreal Spice on.
3. GRILL over medium heat for 20 minutes till juices run clear or 160F internal.

Makes 4-6 servings

TIP: Works great on ribs, brisket and pork shoulder to protect and tenderize over low and slow barbecueing

CLASSIC BAKED BEANS
Picnic Tip: Prepare beans as directed. Place in heavy duty disposable foil pan. Cover tightly. Heat on the grill.

Cook Time:45 mins

2 strips bacon, cut into wide strips
1 large red or green bell pepper, chopped
1 small red onion, chopped
3 cans (16 oz. each) pork and beans
½ cup FRENCH'S ® Reduced Sodium Worcestershire Sauce (30 % less Sodium)
½ cup FRENCH'S® Classic Yellow® Mustard or FRENCH'S® Horseradish Mustard
½ cup brown sugar

1. SAUTE bacon and vegetables until bacon is crispy; transfer to 3-qt. casserole.
2. STIR in remaining ingredients.
3. BAKE at 400°F for 45 to 50 min. until hot and bubbly. Stir occasionally. Makes 8 to 10 servings

CREAMY & TANGY POTATO SALAD
Prep Time: 10 mins
Cook Time: 10 mins

2 lbs. small red or Yukon gold potatoes, cut into cubes
1 cup mayonnaise
2 tbsp. FRENCH'S® Classic Yellow® Mustard
1 cup chopped celery
1/2 cup minced green onion
2 hard-cooked eggs, peeled and chopped
1 tsp. sugar
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. ground black pepper

COOK potatoes in boiling water to cover about 10 min. until tender. Rinse with cold water and drain. Place in large bowl.

STIR in mayonnaise, mustard, celery, onion, eggs, sugar, salt and pepper; mix well.

CHILL 1 hour before serving. Stir.

Makes 6 cups

EASY CHEESY MAC & CHEESE
Prep Time: 10 mins
Cook Time: 35 mins

8 oz. uncooked elbow macaroni (4 cups cooked)
1(10 3/4 oz.) can CAMPBELL'S® Condensed Cheddar Cheese Soup
1 ½ cups milk
2 to 3tbsp. FRENCH'S® Classic Yellow® Mustard
3 cups (12 oz.) shredded American or Cheddar cheese
2tbsp. butter, cut into pieces

1. COOK macaroni according to package directions using shortest cooking time. Drain and place into greased 2-qt. baking dish.
2. MIX soup, milk and mustard. Pour over pasta and stir in 2 cups cheese. Top with butter.
3. BAKE at 350°F for 30 min. or until hot and bubbly. Stir. Top with remaining cheese. Bake 5 min. until cheese melts.

Makes 6 servings

Variation: substitute other types of shredded cheese such as Jack, Mexican blend or sharp Cheddar.
